Kris Marshall Makes 13th Doctor Bets Sky Rocket and Are Suspended

For fans of Love Actually or Death In Paradise, things may be looking good for Kris Marshall in regards to his place in Doctor Who.

Bets for Kris Marshall as the 13th Doctor have been suspended when a similar situation to Capaldi’s run at the Doctor happens again. For those who don’t know, right before Peter Capaldi was announced as the 12th Doctor, bets on who would be the 12th reincarnation of the Time Lord sky-rocketed in Capaldi’s favor.

Now it seems as if the same thing is happening with Kris Marshall. The Death in Paradise and Love Actually actor is now apparently a favorite for the role. While he is a great actor, it makes fans who hoped for any kind of change a little upset.

With the 13th Doctor, many of us hoped that it would mean that we would get a woman or person of color or literally anyone other than a white dude. Instead, we’re getting a ginger man. Sure the Doctor will be happy about that but the rest of us had hoped for a bit of a change.

While nothing is set in stone, it is looking promising seeing as the same thing happened before Capaldi. And also that Marshall had left Death in Paradise mysteriously before Capaldi’s announcement that he was departing the show.

So if it Kris, congratulations! You’ll be an amazing Time Lord. We’ll just have to get used to another white man taking on the role rather than you being Olivia Coleman or Riz Ahmed.
