Brace yourselves: cameos are coming. MLB reports that New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard will have a cameo appearance in the seventh season of Game of Thrones. Depending on who you listen to, UFC star Conor McGregor and indie band Bastille may also show up, too which could make this the most celebrity-filled season yet.
Syndergaard, a huge Game of Thrones fan, filmed his brief appearance this past November in Spain.
"They just know that I’m a fan and they invited me to do that… I couldn’t say no."
Who would? The show filmed a ton of stuff in Spain this year, so Syndergaard could pop up just about anywhere.
Syndergaard’s cameo comes on the heels of news that Major League Baseball will be teaming up with HBO for a variety of promotional efforts this summer, when season 7 debuts. The New York Mets, however, are not among those teams participating in the cross promotional efforts, at least not yet.
Syndergaard is also a fan of Marvel comics, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, among others, and has sewn tributes to his favorite shows into his gloves.
Syndergaard, who had a win/loss record of 14-9 last season, was recently offered a new contract that raised his salary from $503,375 to $605,550 for 2017, but he hasn’t signed it yet.
More on the season 7 cameo parade as it develops.
