‘Hey, they were in Game of Thrones’—Where else have you seen these 50 GoT cast members?
15) MARK ADDY
In Game of Thrones season 1, Mark Addy stepped into the role of the drunken and bellicose King Robert Baratheon, the first of many ill-fated monarchs on the show. In a 2011 interview with Access Hollywood, Addy discussed his long history with Sean Bean: “We were involved in a trilogy of films a year ago called ‘Red Riding,’ but we were at drama school at the same time—same drama school, same time, different years, so we sort of go back, oh, longer than most of us can remember.”
Addy has a long acting pedigree, including roles as David Philby in The Time Machine (2002), Roland in A Knight’s Tale (2001) and Fred Flintstone in The Flintstones in Viva Las Vegas (2000). He’s also busy in TV, having performed in series like New Blood (2016), Atlantis (2013-2015), Still Standing (2002-2006) and a few early stints on The Bill (1990-1995).
If we stick with the sword and sorcery movies, Addy appeared as Friar Tuck in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood (with Russel Crowe, above, in 2010). “Shooting stuff on horseback is more complicated and time consuming than anything else,” he told The Sydney Morning Herald in 2012.
Lastly, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention Addy’s role as Dave in The Full Monty, a comedy about six unemployed steel workers who create a striptease act, that made a big box office splash in 1997.
Addy’s last listed credit is his performance as Billy in Lies We Tell, released in 2016.
