‘Hey, they were in Game of Thrones’—Where else have you seen these 50 GoT cast members?
35) EMILIA CLARKE
Since getting cast as the driven Daenerys Targaryen, Emilia Clarke has found a path to superstardom. She’s come a long from her first TV appearance: a guest role on the BBC soap opera Doctors (2000). Her first film role, in Triassic Attack (2010), wasn’t particularly auspicious, either. She’s starred in bigger films since, such as Dom Hemingway (2013) and Terminator: Genysis (2015) and she even hit the Broadway stage as Holly Golightly in a production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s (2013).
In a 2015 interview with The Telegraph, Clarke talked about her move from Queen of Dragons to survivalist Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genysis (above):
"In Game of Thrones I’m lucky enough to play a very strong woman who doesn’t really get her hands dirty, so I came to this movie with none of the skills I needed to play Sarah Connor. I had to learn a lot, namely the gun training. I had military advisers helping me out, and I really wanted to beat the boys, so I made sure I was training enough to have the strength to be able to last a day’s filming carrying those guns."
Interestingly Clarke’s Thrones costar Lena Headey (Cersei), also played Sarah Connor character on the TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008).
Clarke also stars as Lou Clark in the romance Me Before You (2016, above). Charles Dance (Tywin) is in it, too. For the record, she’s also done voice work for the animated series Futurama (2013) and Robot Chicken (2016).
The future is bright for Clarke, even if you don’t count Thrones: she’ll be appearing in Above Suspicion and Voice from the Stone in 2017, and she’s joined the cast of the currently untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film coming in 2018.
