38) HANNAH MURRAY
We’re all rooting for Gilly, played with a tremendous inner strength by Hannah Murray.
In a 2015 interview with Time, Murray mentioned that she had several connections to Thrones even before she appeared as Gilly:
"I’m really good friends with John [Bradley], and I also have friends [on Thrones] who I was friends with before we started the show. I did Skins with Joe Dempsie [who plays Gendry]. My friend Jacob Anderson plays Grey Worm—we used to live together. We shared a flat with another actor. I think we were still living together when Jacob got the part, and I was so happy he was going to join."
Murray’s film resume includes roles like Hippy Chick 2 in Dark Shadows (2012), Cassie in God Help The Girl (above, 2014), Kat in Lily & Kat (2015), Sylvia Ageloff in The Chosen (2015) and Sara in Bridgend (2015).
Some fans know the UK-born Murray from her role as Cassie Ainsworth in the popular TV series Skins (2007-2013), which in addition to Dempsie also included performances from Anderson and Paul Kaye (Thoros of Myr). The remainder of her TV work came early, with small parts in Agatha Christie’s Marple (2009) and Above Suspicion (2010).
Murray is part of an Untitled Detroit Project set to release in 2017.
