45) SOPHIE TURNER

Sansa Stark was the first onscreen acting job Sophie Turner ever got, and its been amazing to watch her character evolve from a fragile innocent to a battle-scarred player of the great game. Apart from the show, she’s got a good string of movie appearances going, including roles as Heather in Barely Lethal (2014) and Penelope in Alone (2016).

Turner’s highest profile role outside of Thrones has been as Jean Gray in the blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse (2016, above). In an interview with Self in 2016, Turner talked about the similarities between Jean and Sansa Stark: “Both Jean and Sansa are strong characters with such great arcs. Neither starts out strong, but they find that power within them, whether literally or metaphorically.”

One of Turner’s earliest film roles is as Fay in the mystery thriller Another Me (2013, above, with Gregg Sulkin). Turner had a twin who died before birth, and two of her films (Another Me and the TV movie The Thirteenth Tale) involve lost twins. Turner told the Daily Mail in 2014 that her unborn sister haunts her: “My mum had a miscarriage – my twin died and I lived. That definitely affected me in terms of I always felt as though – again, this sounds cheesy – something was missing.”

Turner will appear in Huntsville in 2017 and X-Men: Supernova in 2018.
