46) JAMES COSMO

Actor James Cosmo added gravitas to the wise and honorable Lord Commander Jeor Mormont, a leader of men and mentor to the young Jon Snow.

Not wanting to know how and when Mormont might meet his doom, Cosmo tried to avoid reading George R. R. Martin’s books, but in 2013 he told The Daily News that his friends wouldn’t allow it: “My friends who were Game of Thrones fanatics made me aware that I wasn’t going anywhere after book three. I was a dead man walking.”

Cosmo is another Thrones player who’s been around the block, with screen credits stretching back to 1966. A primer of his movie roles includes parts as Angus MacLeod in Highlander (1986), Campbell in Braveheart (1995, above, 2nd from right), Father Christmas in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) and Quintus in the 2016 version of Ben-Hur.

The Scottish-born Cosmo also played Mr. Renton in the indie hit Trainspotting (1996, above, with Ewan MacGregor and Eileen Nicholas). His TV career is similarly roust, with stints on shows like Warship (1973-1977), Running Scared (1986), Soldier, Soldier (1977, a series that also featured Thrones stars Lena Headey, Jerome Flynn and Dominic Carter) and Sons of Anarchy (2010).

At the moment, Cosmo may be the busiest Thrones alumni on this list. His 2017 projects include T2 Trainspotting, Tomorrow, In Darkness, Ashes in the Snow and a TV mini-series titled SS-GB.

He also appeared in the most recent season of Celebrity Big Brother, so that’s neat.
