Doctor Who Regeneration: The Perfect Doctor Is Right In Front of Them

I’m here to offer yet another idea for the 13th Doctor regeneration…like Capaldi, she was right there the entire time.

More from Doctor Who

Ever since Kris Marshall was somewhat sort of-maybe announced over Easter as a possible Doctor, the rumor mill has stopped churning out ideas. That’s okay, I’m here to singlehandedly get the wheel going again. Even though we’ll have a full announcement soon, we can still toss around names and play with some fun ideas.

Besides, who knows if Kris Marshall will actually be the Doctor anyway, or if that was more gossip? I’m not deterred. We can still guess guys, girls, and aliens until the very minute BBC says we have a new Doctor. (And let’s be real, probably after that, right?)

But what Steven Moffat hasn’t realized, is that the perfect Doctor is right in front of his eyes, in a storyline that he himself had control over. Yes, I’m talking about The Doctor’s Daughter. It’s a little-known fact that Jenny was going to die at the end of The Doctor’s Daughter, and leave the Doctor in despair. Well, we got the despair, the Doctor’s speech as Jenny dies in his arms, and to General Cobb, shockingly, almost dies at the hands of the Doctor, only for his humanity to come back, and decide not to take revenge for his daughter.

It’s a beautiful episode that pushes the Doctor to the limits of everything he’s about, with a brutal reminder of the original family he lost.

Why her?

While Russel T. Davies was originally going keep Jenny killed off, but at the last-minute, Steven Moffat came in and urged to have Jenny be kept alive. Only to blow off what happens to her by claiming that she “flew into the moon.”

Not buying it, Moffat. You have at least half a Time Lady out there, with at least a shuttle to get around the universe. And you’re telling me there are no plans to bring her back? Until 12, it was unlikely that the doctor was going to revisit any faces, but then he regenerated into Peter Capaldi’s character from Fires of Pompeii, a character that showed him his ability to be kind.

What if, next, his regeneration is to a face that showed him his ability to avenge because Jenny helped him, even for a moment, fill that place in his heart where there was a pain?
