More from Doctor Who

Even though we’re three weeks into series ten, the surprises continue to come. This time, it comes with the casting of Samantha Spiro, a double Olivier winning and Game of Thrones actress. It was announced this morning that she would be seen in an episode, though there’s little else on the subject.

She appeared on BBC Breakfast and said:

"“I’ll be in this series of Doctor Who. I can’t say how, I can’t say who, I can’t say where!”"

It also appears, according to Radio Times, that her name has been kept out of any of episode guides as season 10 began. This makes it even more of a total shock for everyone. Many celebrities are set to make appearances this episode, but their names were given ahead of time. David Suchret (Landlord in ‘Knock Knock’), and Ralph Little were known to be guest starring, while this came out of left field.

The difference is, now, we have no idea if she’s already filmed, or will be appearing in the Christmas episode. All she would say is that she would appear later in the series, and didn’t even seem to say whether she already shot her scenes.

Christmas Episode

As I posted last night, there’s still so much unknown about the Christmas episode, it’s likely we’ll see her then. As the episode hasn’t been shot, it could be why no one has seen her name and why her name was just announced.

I can’t think of anyone that we’ve gotten a glimpse of in season 10 besides a picture of the Doctor’s granddaughter. This is especially interesting, as David Bradley is believed to come back as the First doctor.

Take that idea with a grain of salt. I doubt his granddaughter would be that young anyway.
