Doctor Who News: Moffat Talks the Vault

What’s in the vault? Looks like we’ll find out soon enough.

In an impressive turn of events, it seems that Moffat is giving us a break this final season. The man that had us confused for a couple years over the cracks in the wall and the Silence is giving us a break — we’ll know what’s in the vault in episode six.

In the episode entitled Extremis, written by Moffat himself, we will finally see what’s behind the vault, one of the Masters, an alien, or something completely different?

Here’s Moffat’s quote to Den of Geek UK about the vault:

"“It’s the absolute classic mystery, isn’t it?” Moffat told the mag. “It’s the locked door. It’s the simplest thing I could do – the Doctor’s got a locked door – but it’s instantly fascinating. I mean, you’d only have to be staying in someone’s house for a while and realise that one of the doors is locked to become impossibly curious about what’s in there. That’s human nature. There is something perfectly fascinating about a locked door."

In another article I wrote, I suggested it was possible that it could have been the thirteenth doctor sitting in the vault. With the knowledge that we might see the Doctor before the regeneration, does this make it more likely?

I’m not sure. I’m beginning to doubt that it’s the thirteenth doctor, but I also doubt that it’s any of the masters. With half a season still to go, what could be in the vault that would cause a rift, but not too much? However, it is important to keep in mind that it’s been reported multiple times that this regeneration will be different. We’re expected to see the thirteenth doctor before twelve officially leaves.
