Doctor Who News: Could We Be Getting Closer To The Thirteenth Doctor?
The longer we wait for the Doctor, the slower the odds are on it being previously reported Kris Marshall. There are now two names in contention: Olivier winner, Luke Treadaway from Fortitude is the latest name being thrown around the ever shrinking list of possible candidates for the Doctor.
Here is what is being said about Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night star as per the Radio Times:
"Treadaway is said to have interested the Doctor Who production team thanks to his work as young scientist Vincent Rattrey in Sky Atlantic’s gory thriller Fortitude. He has also drawn acclaim and charmed audiences with his big screen role as busker James in British film A Street Cat Named Bob."
If the producers want someone “young and hot” who reminds them of David Tennant, they just might have found their guy. Treadaway is probably the youngest rumored name I’ve seen, and I have a feeling he’d definitely draw in the crowd that producers are wanting.

The other name that still hasn’t been commented on is Sacha Dhawan. While the other names being offered are people who aren’t huge fans of the show, like Tennant and Capaldi, Dhawan has an advantage.
He worked with Mark Gatiss on the special about how the show came to be, An Adventure of Space and Time, where he played director Waris Hussein. He’s also shown incredible interest in being The Doctor.
What about a woman?
It looks as though BBC and Chibnall have decided that this time won’t be the time for the Doctor to regenerate into a woman. The only rumored woman left to be playing the role, Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, announced last week she was not in the running.
It’s unfortunate that they’re choosing to keep the Doctor a man, despite the obvious outcries of the fans, however we don’t know what the plans are. It is nice to see a person of color actor, and one who is obviously a fan, in contention. If it were between these two men, it certainly seems like a difficult decision.
When will we know?!
I’m guessing we’ll have to have some kind announcement within the next couple of weeks. We’re all on our toes…
