As we draw nearer to the premiere Game of Thrones season 7, the cast members have begun to open up about what fans can expect. Iain Glen, who plays Ser Jorah Mormont, told Entertainment Weekly that we’re in for a treat. In fact, when he first received the scripts for season 7, he was so impressed that he wrote a letter to showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss telling them “they were the best seven episodes they’ve ever written.”
"The story is going toward a conclusion. There’s no sense of treading water. You have storylines colliding. And the evolving drama and relationships are as good as they have ever been. It definitely feels like the beginning of the end game."
As for Jorah’s arc specifically, Glenn says that while Jorah and Daenerys’ reunion in season 6 was touching, he still doesn’t think she’s completely forgiven Jorah for spying on her for King Robert Baratheon back in season 1.
"My feeling is Jorah would die a happy man if he could get forgiveness from Daenerys. He’s been in that mental territory half his life. He’s always been willing to sacrifices his life for her. His loss of life is not as big for him as seeking her redemption."
Jorah may have to sacrifice his life before everything is over. When last we saw him, he was still suffering from greyscale. Daenerys, moved, ordered him to find the cure and return to her. So far as Jorah is concerned, season 7 “is all about whether he will survive this horrendous sickness he’s contracted,” according to Glen.
We’ll see how Jorah is managing when Game of Thrones season 7 debuts on July 16.
