Screencap breakdown: The official trailer for Game of Thrones season 7
By Dan Selcke
We get our first look at Jon Snow, Longclaw at his hip, to a familiar cry of “King in the North!” Also note Brienne on the right side of the frame — it looks like she made it back to Winterfell. I don’t see Podrick but I’m sure he’s around as well.
Next, we have a great shot of a crowded great hall. Check out Lyanna Mormont in near the table, and Littlefinger slumping against a wall on the left.
As for Sansa, Littlefinger is still pouring poison into her ear. “Your father and brothers are gone, yet here you stand. Last best hope against the coming storm.” Whatever he’s selling, don’t buy it, Sansa.
Next we have a flurry of shots from all over the place. First, there’s what looks like the gate rising at Castle Black (or possibly another one of the castles along the Wall), which means we’ll be going back there even though Jon has vacated the premises:
We also get our lone shot of Theon, who’s watching something burn in an undisclosed location. A later shot gives us a very clear idea of what’s happening.
And here are a pair of shots more intriguing still: Melisandre, who’s we’ve seen precious little of during filming season, standing on one of Dragonstone’s towers and watching people make their way up its winding staircase.
Now that’s interesting, although it makes some sense that she would be at Dragonstone — it’s where she lived with Stannis for seasons, after all. Is she there when Dany arrives? Or is she watching a different group of arrivals?
Next: Someone listen to Davos!
