Screencap breakdown: The official trailer for Game of Thrones season 7
By Dan Selcke
Above, we have our first glimpse of what appears to be the lands beyond the Wall in season 7. The Night King doesn’t show up in the trailer, but what do you bet some of his lackeys are chasing this unfortunate group?
Next, we have Arya alone, making a fire in the woods. Where will she go now that she’s home? South to King’s Landing and revenge or north to Winterfell and family?
And here’s the group from a few shots back, the ones from beyond the Wall. They’re forming a defensive circle. Fat lot of good that’s likely to do against wights, but points for effort.
Also — and be forewarded that this constitutes a SPOILER — the combatant in the 3:00 position is holding what looks to be a large hammer. We’re pretty sure we know who that is.
Littlefinger, looking creepy and thinking creepy thoughts:
Next, some war shots: first, we have a member of Dany’s Dothraki horde leaping from one horse to another in battle. That should make for a great action sequence.
And then, someone sets a ship on fire. I figure that this is what Theon is reacting to in the shot on the last page — has nasty Uncle Euron caught up with his niece and nephew?
All this time, Davos has been giving us some of his patented down-to-earth wisdom: “If we don’t put aside our enmities and band together, we will die. And then it doesn’t matter who’s skeleton sits on the Iron Throne.”
Wise words, but try telling that to Daenerys and Tyrion, who just got their hands on this cool Painted Table and want to do some usurping:
Next: Death and sex and violence and Arya looking under a bed
