MISSANDEI 1.0: SLAVE TRANSLATOR

Enslaved as a child, Missandei seemed doomed to a life of servitude under the brutal Krazny mo Nakloz. Because of her talent as an interpreter, her life was somewhat better than the average slave, but still not one she chose. She is nothing more than a commodity to Nakloz, and he gifts her to Danerys Targaryen as part of their deal to trade Unsullied warriors for Drogon.

MISSANDEI 2.0: ADVISOR TO THE MOTHER OF DRAGONS

Once gifted, Missandei belongs to Daenerys for only a short while before Daenerys sacks Astapor and frees her. The two women form an immediate bond, and Missandei becomes her constant companion after that.

Missandei’s language skills prove indispensable as Daenerys crusades around Essos stomping out the slave trade. Moreover, her experience, demeanor and wisdom make her one of the Dragon Queen’s most reliable confidants. Missandei also finds love with Grey Worm, the physical obstacles of their relationship notwithstanding. At the end of Season 6, Missandei sails along with her queen and her massive armada to Westeros.
