Forgotten Storylines: How did the Master find Clara?

In every show, there are things that are forgotten. Doctor Who is no exception.

We all know of my “obsession” (Me?! Obsessed?!) with The Doctor’s Daughter forgotten storyline, and there’s way more where that came from.

With John Simm’s Master joining Michelle Gomez’s Master, everything is roaming around in our heads. Theories, ideas, and questions all needing answered. There’s one plot hole that needs figuring out. Something that’s bugging me since the end of season 8.

How did the Master know to give the number to Clara?

In case you forgot at the beginning of Clara’s arc, she phoned the Doctor trying to figure out how to use the wi-fi. The Doctor asked her where she got the number, she said “the woman from the shop”. People went round and round trying to figure out who gave her the number. Many people thought it was River.

Finally, at the end of season 8 in Death in Heaven, Missy reveals that she gave Clara the helpline. However, we have no idea how she knew to do that or her connection that led her to do it.

Seriously, how did she know?! How did she know that Clara Oswald and the Doctor would cross paths? Is it possible that this will be answered in the coming episodes? If it wasn’t meant to be brought up, why wait until past Eleven’s regeneration? Why wait until the end of series 8?

Now, it could just be that I’m looking into things and overanalyzing (Me?! Overanalyzing?!). But I would really like an answer to this question, and these episodes are the perfect way to do it. It could be some kind of huge plan they’ve been concocting, and it all comes to a culmination this week.

Or it could just be a plothole. I can still get my hopes up, can’t I?

What do you think, do you think this will be answered in the upcoming episodes? Or do you think that it was just the Master helping?
