Greyjoy Ships in Blackwater Bay

We were suspicious that Euron Greyjoy would take his newly built fleet to King’s Landing and forge an unholy alliance with the dark queen, Cersei Lannister, but it’s still unnerving to see his ships arrive in Blackwater Bay. And there is no reason to expect that Cersei will welcome the dangerous Greyjoy king into her city, though her perilous position may force her to accept his help (and to do whatever he may ask in return for it).

This image is thrilling because you can feel the cogs of the dramatic wheel turning when you  watch it. Volatile storylines are merging and transforming.

Euron Greyjoy in combat

It’s likely that Euron leads his fleet against the Ironborn ships commanded by Yara and Theon Greyjoy, and Euron doesn’t seem like the kind of psycho who waits on the sidelines when there is blood and gore to be had on the battlefield. Theon and Yara look less than enthused about the fire he rains from above.

The trailer only provides us with a glimpse of Euron in action, but the fight probably goes poorly for whomever is on the other end of his demented berserker fury. If it’s Theon, he’s probably going overboard in the next couple of frames.

If Theon lives, does Yara die?

If this is Theon Greyjoy collapsing on the beach, it looks like a sad, melancholy moment. Is this taking place after the sea battle with Euron’s fleet, and if so, where is Yara? Did their entire fleet burn, and Yara with it? If so, is this Theon throwing himself down to kneel in the salt water, railing against the fate dealt his sister by the Drowned God?

The loss of Yara is also potentially a devastating blow to Theon’s psyche, for she was an essential positive force in his recovery. Without her, we don’t know how how long Theon will be able to hold it together.
