Beric Dondarrion (and Thoros of Myr)

History

Beric Dondarrion is a lord of the Stormlands. In season 1, Ned Stark tasked him with capturing Gregor Clegane, who was ravaging the Riverlands. He doesn’t show up again until season 3, when we learn he assembled a small posse of fighters — including his friend Thoros of Myr — to capture the Mountain. The expedition did not go well, and Dondarrion was killed.

However, Thoros — a red priest of R’hllor — was able to resurrect his friend. Dondarrion’s rebirth brought him new purpose, and the Brotherhood Without Banners was formed. Fighting for the common folk, Thoros and Dondarrion would eventually capture Arya, Gendry, and Hot Pie.

Dondarrion died once more (that we know) in a duel with the Hound, but Thoros brought him back once again. Last we saw them, Beric and the rest of the Brotherhood were still in the Riverlands, fighting for the people. They even picked up a new member: the Hound.

Status

Dondarrion, Thoros, the Hound and the rest of the Brotherhood are heading north after dealing with some insubordinate members of their order. Dondarrion and Thoros believe the real battle is still to come, and that it will be fought against the White Walkers. Their interests align with Jon Snow’s, so they could make valuable allies.
