History

Over the course of his life, Davos has risen from the humblest of beginnings — an illiterate child from Flea Bottom — to a successful smuggler to a landed knight and finally to the Hand of the King to Stannis Baratheon, a job that came with a lot of responsibility. Although good and wise, Davos was unable to effectively counter Melisandre’s control over Stannis, which ultimately resulted in the death of his friend Shireen and the defeat of Stannis’ army at the hands of the Boltons.

After Stannis’ death, Ser Davos defends Jon Snow’s body from the Night’s Watch mutineers, and soon convinces Melisandre to try and resurrect him. After that success, Ser Davos helps Jon and Sansa assemble a northern alliance and fights alongside Jon at the Battle of the Bastards. He later joins the northern lords in proclaiming Jon the new King in the North.

At the end of season 6, Ser Davos is still serving Jon Snow. It wouldn’t be surprising if Jon named him Hand of the King for his invaluable council.

Heading into season 7, Davos and Jon will do everything they can to get the rest of Westeros to pay attention to the impending White Walker threat, but events in the south could put all kinds of obstacles in their way.
