Ellaria Sand and the Sand Snakes
By WiC Staff
History
Ellaria Sand is the one-time lover of Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne, with whom she had four daughters. In season 4, she traveled to King’s Landing with Oberyn and was present for his brutal death at the hands of Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane.
Ellaria returned to Dorne intent on revenge against the Lannisters. Working with three of Oberyn’s daughters — Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene Sand, and last of which was one of her own children — she killed Myrcella Baratheon (Jaime and Cersei Lannister’s daughter) with poison. Shortly after that, she murdered the current leader of Dorne, Prince Doran Martell, and took his place as the head of the country. Last we saw her, she had struck an alliance with Olenna Tyrell, Varys, and Daenerys Targaryen.

Status
Ellaria and the Sand Snakes want revenge against the Lannisters for what has happened to their family. With Daenerys’ aid, they’re closer than ever to getting it. Ellaria now commands the armies of Dorne, which didn’t see any combat during the wars that ravaged Westeros for the first several seasons of the show. She could be a very valuable ally for Daenerys when the Dragon Queen finally comes home.
