Naturally, Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have decided to write the premiere, with “Home” director Jeremy Podeswa behind the camera. Here’s the official synopsis for the episode:
"Jon (Kit Harington) organizes the defense of the North. Cersei (Lena Headey) tries to even the odds. Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) comes home."
As per usual, the episode description is wonderfully vague. With the White Walkers on the way, Jon Snow is naturally looking for ways to strengthen the defenses in the North. Let’s just hope Sansa and Littlefinger are cooperative.
And with Daenerys on her way, Cersei will naturally want to even the odds, although there’s only so much you can do against dragons. And as the title suggests, it sounds like Daenerys will touch down at Dragonstone, her birthplace, at some point during the hour.
So it’s an episode of new beginnings for our characters, with Cersei as the newly crowned Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Jon as the newly crowned King in the North, and Daenerys as the not-yet-crowned Conqueror Queen of Westeros. Let’s get to clashing.
