A Song of Merch and Cosplay—Scenes from the San Diego Comic-Con

facebooktwitterreddit

For the first time ever, the San Diego Comic-Con is going on at the same time as a season of Game of Thrones. We’ll bring you information on the panel tomorrow, where members of the cast will take the stage in Hall H. Until then, let’s take a look at some of the costumes, toys, and other Game of Thrones-related accoutrements on the show floor.

Let’s start with XFinity, which has recreated a set from the show — it looks like the tent where Daenerys received the Yunkish masters in season 3 — and invited fans to explore it.

This is part of XFinity’s TV Diner project, where it recreates sets from various shows (Orange is the New Black and Luke Cage are also represented) and then serves fans TV dinners based off each program. For Game of Thrones, it’s got the Jerky of the Beast, based on the boar that killed King Robert Baratheon in season 1.

Xfinity’s TV Diner is open to the public from today through Saturday, July 22 at the Petco Interactive Zone at 100 Park Blvd. Check out a video of the festivities.

Okay. Let’s hit the floor. First, fans enter the #WinterIsHere experience at 628 L Street, where they’ll go on a journey that will take them through Winterfell, Dragonstone, King’s Landing and the lands beyond the Wall. And at the end of it, each fan gets a Night King Funko Pop! figure and a t-shirt emblazoned with the Night King’s face!

The experience includes some pretty cool stuff, like the the chance to mime attacking a legion of White Walkers.

And is there a throne? Of course there’s a throne.

And if you think sitting the Iron Throne is more trouble than it’s worth, Daenerys’ Dragonstone throne is available, as well.

Costumes from the show are also on hand, including Dany’s new black-and-red outfit.

And now…merch merch merch merch merch merch merch merch merch, courtesy of vendors like Dark Horse Comics, Insight Editions, Funko, ThreeZero, and more.

Cosplayers are out in force, too.

There’ll be a lot more of that as the weekend goes on. Happy conning!
