This weekend, we learned a lot about what the Christmas special, Twice Upon a Time, would have in store for us. In the clip released by the BBC, we saw the general idea of what the special would be about.
In the midst of a surprising turn of events of new era names returning, including Pearl Mackie as Bill and Mark Gatiss guest starring as well, there’s also someone else returning. Blink and you might miss her in the teaser, but Polly will be returning for this episode as well.
But who is playing Polly?
Not surprisingly, it only took the internet a day to figure out who would be recreating the companion. Lily Travers, a British actress known for her role in Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Me Before You, will join the Doctor Who cast and play the companion.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Polly was a companion of the First Doctor up until his regeneration, she travelled with her to-be-husband Ben with the Doctor.
What does this mean for the episode?
According to the clip (below), it looks like we might be seeing the First Doctor regenerate as well. For Classic Who fans, this might be as close as we get to the lost part four of The Tenth Planet, redone in color. It won’t be exactly the same, but it will definitely give something for Classic Era fans to soak their teeth into.
However, for anyone who’s hoping to see Ben in the episode, it looks as though that’s not going to happen. We can’t know for sure but there’s been nothing saying that a man was on set playing Ben.
