In the North, Jon’s decree that everyone — man or woman — train for the coming war is already in action. It looks like some of the kids are going to need target practice. Cue Arya coming round the bend and sinking one right in the bull’s eye.

Tyrion’s letter has already arrived in Winterfell. He must have given that raven a shot of something. (Get a closer look at his letter here.)

Jon, Sansa, and Davos discuss the letter and its meaning. Is the brazier here symbolic of the conversation turning to dragonfire? Or are we reading too much into it? The composition is nice, too, with Jon the decision-maker looking away as Sansa and Davos try to sway him this way and that.

Sansa is thinking about Tyrion, who nominally remains her husband. Or was it annulled when she married Ramsay? We’re so confused. Either way, that almost looks like a smile on Sansa’s face.

Above, it dawns on Ser Davos the Science Guy that fire melts ice.

‘Good point,’ says Jon. ‘Fire does indeed melt ice.’ What a brain trust they have in the North.

From one monarch to another, we travel south to check in with Queen Cersei in King’ Landing. Surrounded by her posse, Cersei cuts an impressive figure.

Here’s another great crowd shot, this one of the group of lords assembled to hear Cersei trash talk Daenerys. This shot resembles the shot of Team Dany meeting Melisandre in the Dragonstone throne room — everybody’s coming together. Still, not a huge crowd for Cersei.

The most powerful of the lords is Randyll Tarly, seen here with his towering son,

Rickon

Dickon.

Randyll steps forward to question how Cersei plans to eliminate Dany’s dragons. qyburn, of course, has something planned.

Also, note the shiny Hand of the Queen pin on Qyburn’s shoulder. Dany vs Cersei, Tyrion vs Qyburn.

Next, Jaime courts Randyll Tarly as the two men stroll through the Red Keep.

Jaime puts the full court press on Randyll, being persuasive in a way we don’t normally see from him.

But will Jaime’s arguments about Dothraki invaders be enough to sway Randyll away from Olenna, to whom he’s sworn? Dangling the Wardenship of the South in his face may help.
