Video: Kit Harington on Jon Snow’s journey and the season 7 finale

Jon Snow has spent the majority of Game of Thrones season 7 at Dragonstone petting dragons and spelunking. However, in the final moments of Episode 705, “Eastwatch,” Jon is headed north of the Wall with a group of unlikely heroes, on a mission to destroy the One Ring capture a wight and bring it to King’s Landing. Naturally, he’s not revealing what’s going to happen next, but that doesn’t mean he can’t drop some hints about what the final two episodes of the season are like.

Speaking to the Golden Globes, Kit Harington spoke about what Game of Thrones has meant for his career and reflected on Jon Snow’s journey thus far, calling it “an incredible journey.”

“The last episode [of season 7] is incredible, really, and the length will be longer as well. It will set the template for next year.”

The season 7 finale will be 81 minutes long, which is the longest episode of the series by a decent margin. Harington’s comment about it setting “the template for next year” is very interesting. Season 8 has only six episodes, but at least one crew member has said that they could be “feature-length.” With the extra-long season 7 finale setting “the template” for the episodes next year, can we take this as more evidence of that?
