Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “Beyond the Wall”
By Corey Smith
A closeup of the Valyrian steel dagger Bran gave Arya a couple weeks back.
Sansa is going through Arya’s stuff, which sisters can never seem to stop doing.
Although we’re betting this is the first time a sister discovered dead people’s faces.
“Don’t go through my stuff, or I’ll cut your face off.”
“I was just looking for some eyeliner.”
Arya is like a cat playing with her food in this scene.
Sansa puts on a brave face as Arya advances on her with the dagger…
…but Arya hands the knife to Sansa, which is perhaps symbolic of Sansa passing whatever weird test this was. The whole Winterfell drama thing is a contest to see who can act more unreasonable.
Dany’s ship, sailing for Dragonstone, probably.
Dany looking rather relieved that Jon has finally awoken.
Jon looking depressed as always.
This look of sadness on Emilia Clarke’s face should go on her highlight reel. When was the last time she looked this sad?
The two monarchs shake hands. Okay, they’re holding hands.
Further strengthening their bond, Dany pledges to defeat the Night King.
In turn, Jon offers to bend the knee to her. She’s pleased, but pulls back from him physically, perhaps because she’s worried about her developing feelings for him?
Dany departs, and Jon attempts to get some rest. Note Longclaw in the corner.
Finally, we head north of the Wall for one last scene.
Chains? What might the wights need chains for? And where did they get these chains anyway? Home Depot?
Ugh. The horn coming out of the water made our hearts sink.
It’s Viserion’s dead body, borne out of the lake on some sort of chain-bearing sled.
Poor Viserion. Let the guy rest in peace.
The Night King has other plans.
And here, we all realized what those plans were.
A freaking undead ice dragon. Took our breathe away.

What a way to close out the episode. With only one more to go this season, we are starting to get very worried for our heroes. It’s an ice dragon for crying out loud. Jon and crew should have never gone “Beyond the Wall.”
