Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “Beyond the Wall”
By Corey Smith
The weather was worsening when last we saw our heroes, and here it’s gotten very bad.
Visibility is down to almost nothing, but we can make out something in the distance.
Squinting helps, we hear.
The bear has better vision than our heroes, and turns towards them.
Mr. Scout finally decides he’s in danger, and begins to book it back to the main group.
And here is the moment my wife let out a scream. The bear must have done a quick loop, and come at the scout from the side, as it was originally behind him.
The group quickly circles up, one of the iconic shots from the season 7 trailer.
The bear bursts into the circle, looking downright gigantic.
Beric and Thoros simultaneously igniting their swords was pretty awesome.
The bear doesn’t seem to care, though. It just bows up, ready for a fight.
Beric lighting the bear on fire — a brilliant move.
Look into the eyes of your worst nightmare. Its a flaming. dead. bear.
The Hound is all of us.
Except Thoros, who’s busy trying not to be eaten.
Jorah finally has the right idea and stabs the bear with a dagger made of dragonglass.
That drops the bear immediately. It’s still a flaming dead bear. But at least it’s dead…for good.
Thoros is in bad shape, and like us, wants a drink to cope with what just happened.
Beric cauterizes the wound with his flaming sword and then extinguishes the sword in the snow. Very Excalibur-esque.
Bloody paw prints from the bear — must be the blood of that poor scout.
