Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “The Dragon and the Wolf”
By Corey Smith
We transition to Winterfell, where Sansa stands on the battlements of Winterfell. She is clearly considering a major decision. (This next scene was so masterful, we felt it warranted an abundance of images.) #SorryNotSorry
She closes her eyes before making that decision, steeling herself for what’s to come.
Sansa departs. Looks cold up there.
We move to the great hall of Winterfell, where Arya is being brought before Sansa and Bran.
Sansa’s looking quite nervous.
Arya is escorted into the hall by both a Vale soldier and a Stark soldier.
A nice shot of the Vale troops.
Littlfinger looking smug, as usual.
Arya signals that she’s prepared for what’s about to come.
And then, Sansa flips the script on Littlfinger for the first time in his life.
This is the exact moment when Littlefinger realizes he’s in trouble. Love the Stark guard staring right at him.
Arya’s grin is priceless.
As are Littlefinger’s looks of confusion.
Say what?
Sansa belittling Littlefinger was a joy to watch.
Sansa rattlles off Littlefinger’s many crimes, leaving him no room to maneuver. A tip of the hat to Sophie Turner for her performance here.
Arya can barely wait to cut Baelish’s throat.
This look. This look right here is the moment Littlefinger begins to truly panic. When Bran joins in the conversation, it’s all over.
And here is when Littlefinger realizes it.
Pure desperation made flesh.
Sansa doesn’t appear to care in the slightest.
“Hey guy I threatened to kill that one time — will you help me out?” The answer is no.
Littlefinger’s first sob struck us as a bit of crocodile tears.
But these look rather genuine. Props to Aiden Gillen for this scene.
Arya was waiting for all this boring conversation stuff to be over.
Littlefinger and Sansa’s look at one another was another great moment in a scene full of them.
And boom goes the dynamite.
Sansa seems to be taking stock of her feelings here. I wonder if she feels anything for Littlefinger as he lays dying.
No one moves a muscle to help Littlefinger. That tells you all you need to know about the character.
And so ends the reign of one of the greatest players in the game of thrones. Bleeding out on the floor of Winterfell’s great hall.
