Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “The Dragon and the Wolf”
By Corey Smith
The dark lady approaches, shrouded in shadow.
Jaime is making preparations to head north like a good soldier.
And then Cersei comes in and smashes his plans to pieces.
She also calls him “the stupidest Lannister,” which just seems like adding insult to injury.
Cersei reveals that she has no intention of going north to fight the army of the dead. Instead, she’ll let the living and the dead kill each other while she marshals own forces.
Jaime is livid about it. He still intends to march north.
Cersei, not done hurling insults, accuses him of treason.
Jaime reminds us a bit of Littlefinger in this scene. He has no idea what’s going on.
Anyway, he’s not cowed by Cersei’s accusations. So she threatens to have the Frankenmountain kill him.
Jaime has never been more hurt in his entire life. Only true love can hurt you like this.
“Mountain smash.”
Jaime walks out. For the second time this episode, Cersei declines to murder her brother.
Out on the road alone, Jaime covers his golden hand. He either wants to remain incognito, or to cover any reminder of Cersei.
Jaime has also changed his armor, leaving the crimson and gold of Lannister behind for a simple black ensemble.
Snow begins to fall as Jaime leaves. We like to think the change in seasons represents a new era in Jaime’s life, finally free of Cersei. Or it’s just really cold out.
Snow dusts King’s Landing, falling on the Dragonpit, and everywhere else:
It’s a good thing Cersei has that fur-lined number — she no longer has Jaime to keep her warm.
