Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “The Dragon and the Wolf”
By Corey Smith
For our final scene, we head to Eastwatch, which is looking stunning as usual.
Bran’s flying his ravens over the Wall again, looking, waiting.
Tormund steps out into the watchtower we saw Dany in last week. My, how things have changed. A couple of seasons ago, Tormund was trying to breach the the Wall, and now he’s defending it.
Nothing to see here…
…until a White Walker strolls out of the forest.
And the fog rolls in with him, which we all know means you’re screwed.
Now Tormund knows what the Night’s Watch felt when his fellow wildlings emerged from the same forest.
And here come the giants, who were missing from the battle at the frozen lake.
This horn is decidedly different-looking than the one we saw at Castle Black, which might explain why it made the sound from the horn in The 13th Warrior.
This is as huge as the army of the dead has ever looked.
Tormund’s day is about to get a lot worse…
…because the Night King arrives on his new mount, Zombie Viserion. Who now spits blue flame.
Nice profile shot of the Night King riding Viserion.
Tormund has the right idea here. Run!
These shots of Viserion’s blue flames are so eerie.
Call us crazy, but that looks like a lot of stairs down. Don’t think everyone is going to make it.
Is that a grimace on the Night King’s face? Should be a smile.
And there go those stairs. Should have ran on top of the Wall instead of down it, guys.
The army of the dead is happy to wait.
This is one of the best shots of the whole attack: the blue flames illuminating the dead. Although some of them look to be in pretty good shape. They’re the recently dead. Notice the Thenns in the group.
Perhaps my favorite shot — Viserion is pure fury here.
And down goes the Wall, taking Eastwatch-by-the-Sea with it.
Into the sea the Wall goes, raising water levels around the world by two inches.
The dead go slowly streaming through the breach.
Including the giants. Those guys are going to be a headache to deal with.
Viserion and the Night King soar over the dead, and our hearts collectively sink.
The dead have finally made it past the Wall, and now the great war has begun.
And that’s that! See you for our next screencap breakdown…in 2019, probably.
