Filming on Game of Thrones season 8 is about to start, if it hasn’t already. We know that star Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) is already in Belfast, long the show’s production hub. And Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) recently posted a picture of herself getting her hair dyed Targaryen-blonde.
In the second picture, Clarke is being assisted by Game of Thrones hairdresser and makeup guru Candice Banks and Game of Thrones hair designer Kevin Alexander, both of whom have worked on the show since the pilot. Naturally, they’re here for the final season as well, and attending to more cast members than just Clarke:
That’ll be Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) posing with these two Game of Thrones stalwarts in an Instagram post uploaded just today. Obviously, we don’t expect Cersei to go platinum blonde for season 8 — they trio appears to just be having some fun with some old Daenerys wigs here — but this does tell us that Headey is back in the mix, likely in Belfast getting ready to film her final scenes.
It’s almost wistful to type that — we’ve done this behind-the-scenes song and dance before, tracking as cast members trickle in to filming locations and wondering about what they might shoot next. This will be the last time we do that. But if Headey can enjoy the process, so can we.
We don’t know exactly when season 8 will begin filming, but according to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), it’ll be this month. Stay tuned.
