Matt Smith hasn’t ruled out a return to Doctor Who with Thirteenth Doctor
BBC, Doctor Who
What would a team up with the Eleventh Doctor and the Thirteenth Doctor look like?
Matt Smith seems pretty adamant about a return to Doctor Who. It seems the only question is when the Eleventh Doctor will grace our screens again. According to an interview with MTV, Matt says he’d love to come back when Jodie Whittaker is the Doctor when he’s “old and grey”. The thirty-five-year-old actor joked that isn’t far off.
He continued by saying that he wants to wait a few years until Whittaker “has the TARDIS under her belt, as it were.” He says he wants to give her a few years on her own before coming back. It looks like Smith has all the confidence in the new actress stepping into the role. Now we can sit back and wonder what trouble the Eleventh Doctor and Thirteenth Doctor would get into.
This comes after many rumors that Matt Smith will return at Christmas, along with the Twelfth Doctor and the First. The rumors swirled on social media a couple weeks ago when people thought they saw Matt Smith filming. So far nothing has come to fruition about these rumors, but with all the rumors about cameos at Christmas, it seems as though nothing is off limits.
His thoughts on the Thirteenth Doctor
Matt Smith had an interesting take on the Thirteenth Doctor being a woman, as well as the changes that are happening with Doctor Who. He compared the show to Shakespeare with the new ideas it brings.
"“It needs expression and it needs courage and bold ideas – and I think Chris [Chibnall] and his team will bring all that to theshow, so I just sit back as a fan and watch what happens."
It certainly seems as though the actor has faith in the new showrunner. He told MTV he had the same advice for Jodie Whittaker that he had for Peter Capaldi – “listen to no one!”
