Westworld Season 2 Trailer

There’s a lot of imagery going on in this trailer, all set to the music of ‘I Gotta Be Me’ by Sammy Davis, Jr. The entire trailer is book-ended by images of blood. It starts with the splatter on the player piano and the slash marks on the Man In Black’s face. Even in the middle we are shown a scene where Delores is gunning down some park visitors. Be sure to read this post for a breakdown of the trailer. Get ready for a wild ride.

When Will Westworld Season 2 Start?

There’s been no mention of an exact premiere date, but we do know the show will kick-off in Spring 2018. At least, that’s what Evan Rachel Wood said when a fan asked her on Twitter:

Wood may not have given us an exact premiere date, but she does respond to her Twitter fans. I’m sure we will hear more from her as we get closer to the start of Westworld on HBO.

Any New Cast Members?

We can never get enough of Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, and Ed Harris. From the trailer, we do know that Wood, Ed Harris, and Jeffrey Wright are coming back. The other actors are still an unknown. However, according to Variety, several new actors have been hired for the show:

  • Gustaf Skarsgård will “play Karl Strand, described as a white-collar guy comfortable in the field.” You may be familiar with his role as Floki in the TV show Vikings.
  • Fares Fares (known for his roles in Tyrant and Rogue One) “will play Antoine Costa, a tech expert.”
  • Betty Gabriel, who played the bizarre servant in the acclaimed movie Get Out, “will be playing Maling, who is trying to restore order on the ground.”

Variety has also reported 3 others have been added to the show:

  • Jonathan Tucker will play “Major Craddock, a commanding military officer.”
  • Neil Jackson is “Nicholas, a charming and resourceful man who finds himself in uncharted territory.”
  • Katja Herbers, from HBO’s The Leftovers, will play will play Grace, a seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visit comes at the park’s darkest hour,” as reported from another post by Variety.

What About The Story?

If you think season 2 is going to kick off right after the death of Ford, think again. During an interview with Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan at Paleyfest, EW asked Joy about what me might see in season 2:

“You’re definitely going to see the aftermath and the effects of what happened,” Lisa Joy tells me, to which Jonathan Nolan adds: “We are definitely not picking up right where we left off.”

So it looks like we are going to expect a time jump in the story. Don’t ride off into the sunset just yet. Feel free to keep coming to this site for more answers about season 2. We will keep updating it with most recent information as it’s released.
