Jurassic Park

and

Westworld

have the similar premise; however, that doesn’t diminish their individual quality at all. Sure, there are tons of videos and Memes comparing the two – some that even suggest they are in the same universe – but that’s not why we’re here. The obvious comparisons of the two have been thoroughly analysed, so, you won’t find anything in this article that arbitrarily compares the two. Instead, we have found the references and Easter eggs from

Westworld

that are a wonderful homage to

Jurassic Park

  • Felix Brings A Host Bird Back To Life

Oh, sweet, sweet Felix. Before he helped Maeve and company murder loads of Delos employees, he was bringing host birds back online. Felix was manically typing away, when the bird began to shake a bit. Like the delightful person he is, Felix leaned in and encouraged the tiny robot bird. In this moment, Felix uttered the phrase:

"“That’s it! Come on, little one!”"

John Hammond said the exact same line to a hatching raptor in the beginning of Jurassic Park. It might not be the biggest nod to the classic film, but it was enough to make fans squeal with excitement.

  • Ashley Stubbs Gets Flanked By Ghost Nation

Fans of

Jurassic Park

were thrilled when Ghost Nation attacked poor Stubbs. While that might be an odd thing to celebrate, it was how it went down that caused a stir. As Stubbs approached three Ghost Nation hosts, he failed to check his flanks. This led to him being blindsided on his right side and going down like a sack of potatoes.

If Stubbs watched Jurassic Park, he would have recognized the attack before it happen. The formation was the same one the Raptors used in the film. This moment in film is iconic not only for the imagery, but for also spawning the line, “Clever girl.”

  • Dolores Gives A Chilling Speech

In the season finale, Dolores faced off against the Man in Black. This moment was heartbreaking, because she learned that this monster was once William, whom she loved. The scene carried an immense emotional weight, but it also referenced Jurassic Park. In the face of defeat, Dolores stood up to William and delivered this bone chilling speech:

"“They say that great beasts once roamed this world, big as mountains. Now, they’re just bone and amber. Time undoes even the mightiest of creatures. Just look what it’s done to you. You will die with the rest of your kind in the dirt, your bones will turn to sand, and on that sand, a new god will walk”"

Dolores referenced “great beasts”, which are most likely dinosaurs, but it’s the part apart “bone and amber” that raised eyebrows. The scientist in Jurassic Park retrieved the “dino DNA” from mosquitoes trapped in amber. Dolores’s language is quite deliberate, which leads us to believe the writers wrote that line as a nod to the film.

  • Ford Explains The Park’s History

In the clip above, you see Dr. Ford talking to Theresa, but it’s the background and framing that seems so familiar. The scene is eerily similar to one in Jurassic Park. Specifically, the one where Hammond explains to Dr. Sattler why he created the park.

Both scenes are shot in a similar way and the general vibe of the conversation is the same. In both instances, you have a man with a god complex explaining why and how he created such wonder. It’s a subtle nod, but it’s one that Jurassic Park fans appreciate.

  • Armistice Bites Off A Tech’s Finger

Ok, we are fully aware that this might be a stretch, but it’s still worth noting. During Maeve’s jailbreak from Westworld, she enlisted the help of Hector and Armistice. Needless to say, things got a bit bloody; however, it’s how it all began that brings up this reference.

When Armistice is being cleared by the tech, she chomped off one of his fingertips. Sure, the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are known to get bitey, but this moment shines a light on something Dr. Malcolm said. After being chased by the T-Rex, Jeff Goldblum’s character is talking to Hammond. Here is the exchange between the two:

"John Hammond: All major theme parks have delays. When they opened Disneyland in 1956, nothing worked!Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but, John, if The Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don’t eat the tourists."

Thanks to Armistice, we know that the pirates would’ve eaten the tourists if only they had a faster processor. Like we said, it’s a thin comparison, but it’s one that definitely popped out at us.

Well, That’s all folks! Hopefully, Westworld Season 2 will bring us more wonderful Easter eggs and references from out favorite properties. Make sure you follow Beyond Westworld’s official Twitter and Facebook Pages for the latest updates regarding Westworld.
