New study finds that Game of Thrones is the most binge-able show ever
Is Game of Thrones binge-able? Of course it is. Is Thrones the most-binge-able show of all time? Of course it is, and now we have the research to prove it. Samsung UK commissioned OnePoll.com to research the most popular binge-worthy box sets out there, and Thrones won. Two thousand people were surveyed. According to the results, here are the most binge-able shows in existence:
- Game of Thrones
- Breaking Bad
- Downton Abbey
- The Walking Dead
- The Sopranos
- 24
- Sex and the City
- Other
- Lost
- The Wire
- Peaky Blinders
- Dexter
- Orange is the New Black
- House of Cards
- True Blood
- Gossip Girl
- Sons of Anarchy
- Spooks
- Homeland
- Desperate Housewives
Steve Mitchell, the Head of TV Product Management at Samsung UK, talked about the study to the Independent. “[W]e’ve seen over the last few years that there has been a radical change in how people watch TV and their favourite programmes. Whether through box sets or streaming, we all have an opportunity to watch whatever content we want at a time that’s convenient for us.”
OnePoll’s research also revealed that 44% of viewers prefer to watch content on demand, and that one in five watch their favorite shows repeatedly, watch more TV now than they did five years ago and “box-set binge” more regularly.

While on the subject of binge-watching, The Guardian’s Rebecca Nicholson recently used AT&T’s “streaming consumption calculator” to measure how much of our lives we spend watching/binging shows in this golden age of television. To put a number on it, one complete viewing of Game of Thrones takes 9.1 eight-hour working days for a total of 72.8 hours. Is it worth it? Of course it is.
If by some miracle you’ve never seen Game of Thrones and are just about to watch it for the first time, enjoy your 72.8 hours.
