Dr. Ford’s new narrative shocked fans in the Westworld Season 1 finale. However, a small detail in a previous episode may have spoiled the big reveal.

Westworld’s Season 1 finale was filled with twists and turns that enthralled audiences. One of the most exciting moments came at the end of the episode, when Dr. Ford revealed his new narrative. It was shocking to see Dolores kill Dr. Ford, but that was only the tip of the spear.

Fans watched as a horde of hosts descended on the party, and in the process, the Man in Black was wounded. This moment seemed like it came out of left field; however, the host ambush may have been foreshadowed in an earlier episode. After the episode aired, fans went back to see if they missed anything. As it turns out, part of Ford’s narrative was shown in Episode 6.

Westworld Season 1, Episode 6 Showed What Was Going To Happen In The Finale

During the episode titled, ‘The Adversary’, Ford had a model mapped out in his office. We didn’t know it at the time, but he was planning his new narrative. In the picture above, you can clearly see Dr. Ford setting the stage for the hosts ambush in the finale. The formation of the hosts who fired at the Man in Black is identical to the figurines in the picture.

We assumed that Ford knew what the Delos board members were planning from the beginning, but now it’s clear the ambush was always his end game. It will be interesting to see what the scope of Ford’s narrative is, and what it means for the show. The hosts attack on the board members was clearly the beginning of a much larger plan.

Now that Dolores has “awakened”, she seems to be the centerpiece of Ford’s narrative. What does that mean moving forward? Well, it means Season 2 is going to be very different from anything we’ve seen before.

Westworld’s creators have confirmed that Season 2’s theme will be chaos, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any order. Ford put his narrative into motion, so the chaos in the second season is a direct result of his influence. We don’t know how far his plan reaches, but it will likely be the focal point in future seasons. Whatever the future holds for the show, we can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

Westworld Season 2 will premiere Spring 2018.
