Check out how these Westworld actors are using their celebrity to change the world.

Westworld Season 1 explored the concept of robots (or hosts) gaining consciousness. Each host had its own programmed story that they would act out each day. Then these “loops” would reset each morning, and they would start it all over again. It many ways, the loops were metaphors for the struggles we find ourselves in our everyday lives. Outside the story, in the real world, several of the Westworld actors broke loops their own.

Here’s a breakdown of some their accomplishments.

Which Westworld Actor Is Focused On Diversity In Movies?

[Credit: HBO]The #OscarSoWhite campaign brought awareness to the lack of diversity in the entertainment industry. The Oscars have a history of nominating very few people of color in their categories. This made everyone wonder if the industry was turning a blind eye away from stories, characters and movies involving people of different backgrounds.

Clifton Collins Jr. was one of the Westworld actors who stands out as one of the people wanting to make the change. Collins Jr. is a Latino actor whose family worked their butts off in the entertainment industry. His grandfather, Pedro Gonzales Gonzales, forged a path for other Latinos in the movies when he appeared alongside John Wayne in several of his movies.

Clifton Collins Jr. continued along his grandfather’s path, and forged his own. He first started out in the business playing Latino characters. As he progressed in the industry, he branched out into other roles that did not play into Latino stereotypes. His most impressive role was playing murderer Perry Smith in the movie Capote.

Thandie Newton Takes On Being A Mom

With the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements going on, a light has been shined on the struggles of women in the entertainment industry. Thandie Newton, whose character Maeve became a fan favorite, discussed her fears while interviewing for the role. At the time, she was nursing her 4 month old son. During the Skype interview with Lisa Joy and Jonathon Nolan, she could tell it was time to breastfeed her child.

During the interview, she breastfed her son. The whole time she was afraid that they would think she would be an “inconvenience”, and they would end up passing on her. Instead, Lisa Joy came into the room and started breastfeeding her child.

Being a mom should never be a hindrance in any industry.

Evan Rachel Wood And Her Quest To Change Sexual Inequality

[Credit: HBO]As a victim and a survivor of rape, Evan Rachel Wood has made it her passion to bring change to the way women are viewed. She is doing everything she can to bring a voice and awareness to the women who have suffered any type of gender inequality.

She turned her Twitter account into an open forum to discuss with anyone and everyone about this topic. People from all different ways of life have commented. And they’ve discussed how all of us can make a positive change in the future. Wood She continues break down stereotypes, educate others on what it means to be bi-sexual in the LGBTQ community and how men can help change the culture.

Each of these actors have used their celebrity to find ways of improving the world. Whether it is diversity, female empowerment or just helping others, we need more people like them to step up. Although Westworld may be about robots becoming human, we need to think about how we can be better people.
