How Elsie And Ford’s Host Family May Connect In Westworld Season 2

Two mysteries regarding Elsie and Ford were left unanswered in Westworld’s first season, but they could collide in a major way in Season 2.

Many television shows successfully create an array of mysteries and plot threads. However, only the best series manage to tie everything together and answer all the questions in a satisfying way. Westworld is one of those rare shows that managed to achieve this feat in its first season. Each episode raised more questions than answers, yet almost all the pieces came together in an epic conclusion that left viewers salivating for more.

Even a masterpiece like Westworld isn’t perfect, and, sadly, certain things fell through the cracks. In fact, two significant mysteries were left hanging at the end of the season. One involves the fate of Elsie Hughes, and the other revolves around the future of Ford’s host family. These stories took a back seat to other more prescient plot threads, but they could be important in the future. In fact, It’s possible that these two stories could collide in a major way when Westworld returns later this year.

Could Elsie Meet Up With Ford’s Host Family In Westworld Season 2?

‘Westworld’

In Westworld Season 1, Bernard found the hosts built in the image of Ford’s family, while searching for anomalies in the park. He found them in Sector 17, despite the area supposedly being off-limits. Ford assured Bernard that the family posed no treat and that they mostly stayed in their designated area.

Meanwhile, there is an online Easter Egg that revealed Elsie’s tablet is in Sector 20. The proximity of her location to Ford’s host family may not be random. Many fans assumed Elsie was killed by Bernard, but it’s possible she’ll be back for Season 2. If she is alive, Ford must’ve kept Elsie alive for a reason. After Bernard subdued Elsie, It’s possible that she was taken to the host family for safekeeping.

While the hosts must ultimately take autonomous action, Ford knew they still need human help to actualize their full potential. After all, they needed Ford to carefully manipulate events before attaining free will. It’s possible that Elsie could help fill that role in the wake of Ford’s death.

Like Bernard, Elsie seemed to have genuine respect and awe of the hosts. In many ways her attitude is more meaningful than Bernard’s, since Elsie isn’t a host. She didn’t treat the hosts as human, per se, but she did treat them with respect – unlike other Delos employees. Her attitude is likely why Ford decided to keep her alive and safe until the very end of Season 1.

How Elsie And Ford’s Host Family Could Be A Pivotal Part Of Season 2

If the host family treated Elsie well during her captivity, it could be a game-changer. If Elsie sides with the hosts In Season 2, she could play a pivotal role in the war against Delos. Given her knowledge and expertise, she could easily expose the human’s vulnerabilities.

Bernard will likely be an inside man for the hosts, but they can use all the human help they can get. Given the violent insurrection they’re facing, Bernard and Elsie will be very valuable to Charlotte Hale and the Delos employees. But, if they join the hosts, they could turn the tide of war.

Although keeping Elsie safe was important task, the host family should have a larger role moving forward. They are living testaments to Ford and Arnold, and represent their original vision for the park. Ford secretly maintained them for years, but it’s unclear how they figured into his new narrative. When it comes down to it, they have just as much right as Dolores, Maeve, or Bernard to capitalize on their free will.

Regardless of whether this theory pans out, hopefully Season 2 will bring back Elsie and Ford’s host family. If they appear, they could be major wild cards in Season 2, while also answering lingering questions from the first season. We still have a few months until Westworld Season 2 drops. Until then, we will continue to speculate on anything and everything Westworld.
