Talulah Riley Will Play A Deadly Role In Westworld Season 2

Talulah Riley is a series regular for Westworld Season 2, but what can we expect from her character?

Back in March of last year, Deadline confirmed that Westworld actress Talulah Riley would be a series regular in Season 2. Riley plays Angela, the host who welcomed William to the park in Episode 2. Angela appeared in 6 episodes in Season 1, but now that she is a series regular, she’ll have a much larger role in the show’s sophomore season.

Fans are thrilled that Riley will be featured more in Season 2, but what role will her character play? Sadly, Angela didn’t have much impact on the plot in Season 1. But, thanks to an official quote from HBO, we have a pretty good idea about what Angela will be doing in Season 2. Surprisingly, it looks like Talulah Riley’s character is going to get her hands dirty.

HBO Confrims That Fans Will See A Different Side Of Talulah Riley’s Character Angela In Westworld Season 2

While speaking with EW last year, HBO told the outlet that Talulah Riley would be heavily featured in Westworld Season 2. HBO also gave fans a hint at what they can expect from Angela in the new season. While it might not be the most enlightening quote, it’s enough to tell us that things are about to get bloody in the park:

"“[Angela is] a host whose beatific face welcomed guests to Westworld for decades… Angela will prove to be one of the last faces many guests will ever see.”"

We saw a few different sides of Angela in Season 1, but for the most part, she seemed to be following her programming. At first, she was a delightful host that welcomed people to the park, but 30 years later, she had joined Wyatt’s crew. In the upcoming season, it sounds like she will turn her gaze towards the guests and become something we haven’t seen before. So, why would Angela become a murderous host in Season 2?

Why Is Angela Going To Be A Murder-Bot in Westworld Season 2?

We’ve known for over a year that Ford’s narrative threw the park into chaos, but we weren’t sure what that meant at the time. Based on the Season 2 trailer released at SDCC last July, we know that a lot of people are going to die. Dolores is leading the rebellion, but we didn’t know which hosts had joined her. Well, it appears that she has an army of hosts at her disposal.

Interestingly, while attending the 2017 Emmys, the show’s co-creator, Lisa Joy, referred to the hosts rampage as an outbreak. The entire quote is as follows:

"“In season one everything was calm. You kind of understood that the thing that was awakening within the robots could lead to some sort of outbreak. Now, the outbreak has happened, and we find the park in a very different place. So, the entire setup is kind of a bit different.”"

The term “outbreak” is extremely important, because it suggests that Ford’s narrative can spread. We saw a bit of this from Maeve in Season 1 – with the Shakespearean trigger phrase – but this is something different. It appears that Ford’s narrative will affect several hosts, and Angela will certainly be one of them. It might not be the most groundbreaking theory. But, it explains why we’ll be seeing a different side of Angela in Season 2.
