Season 8 filming: See detailed new pictures of the King’s Landing set

For months now, the Game of Thrones production has been building an enormous King’s Landing set in a lot at Titanic Studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is, by far, the most elaborate set ever built for the show, and by the looks of new photographs from the Stira Folding Attic Stairs company, it’s just about done.

A representative from Stira, which manufactures and installs loft ladders, was headed to the Titanic Exhibition Center when they saw the set, and they were very impressed. “It looked close to completion and the level of detail on the completed bits is insane,” they wrote. “It all looks real.” The resulting pictures are the most detailed we’ve had of the set yet, and although a few suggest potential SPOILERS, we’ll start with the benign ones.

Below, you can see the skyline of the set, giving you an idea of how huge it really is.

The white guard tower on the left has been completed for a while. Here’s a closer shot:

We can also now see more of the detailing on the roofs. The production has built a whole section of a city here, complete with guard tower, a street with buildings to either side, and a gate.

The gate is one of the newer addition to the set, and is flanked by another pair of towers. Last time we got a look at them, it was from far away. Now we can see them big as life:

Again, the detailing on the stonework is extremely impressive. It does indeed look real.

Okay, now let’s talk about SPOILERS.

Notice the two workmen in the lower left-hand corner of the image above? They’re touching up what looks like a giant breach in the city wall, or at least that’s what it looks like to me.

This implies that, at some point in season 7, something will blow a hole in the walls of King’s Landing. What’s powerful enough to do that? Our money is on dragons, although we’re not sure if they’ll be living or dead.

Thanks to Stira Folding Attic Stairs for letting us post these pics! What do you guys make of them? Are there other readings of the gate photos?
