Game of Thrones wins at Cinema Audio Society Awards

In the immortal words of Joffrey Baratheon, it’s good to be king. Okay, Joffrey might never have said anything remotely that cool, but Game of Thrones still remains king of the awards. This time around, Game of Thrones was victorious at the Cinema Audio Society in the 1 Hour Television series category for its seventh season. It was the fifth straight time Thrones won in the category, cementing its status as an audio dynasty.
Formed in 1964, the Cinema Audio Society shares “information with Sound Professionals in the Motion Picture and Television Industry.” It’s annual awards show, recognizes ” Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for both Feature Films and Television, as well as to honor Academy Award Nominees and Emmy Award Winners for Best Sound.” This year’s iteration was the Society’s 54th award show, and was held in Los Angeles.
Game of Thrones defeated a murderer’s row in order to take home the award, including Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, and The Crown. Maybe once Game of Thrones goes off the air someone else can win, but we prefer not to think about that.
The award saluted the following crew members specifically, but of course, recognized the efforts of much more behind the scenes.

I guess we’ll have to change our opinion about “Beyond the Wall.” Or not. Good sound aside, the episode still didn’t make any sense.
