Fans were unsure if certain characters survived Westworld Season 1, but thanks to recent comments by Lisa Joy, we know exactly who will return in Season 2.

Spoiler Warning: If you do not want to know anything about Westworld Season 2, be warned. We get into some specifics about storylines in the new season. Abandon all hope ye who enter here.

By the end of Westworld Season 1, fans were unsure of which characters survived. Elsie and Stubbs were presumed dead, but no one knew for sure. Heading into Season 2, we still know very little about the show’s new season. We do, however, know that several actors are coming back including Jimmi Simpson, Luke Hemsworth and Ben Barnes.

To be honest, the show’s creators have been very secretive about Season 2. Thankfully, Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy recently confirmed many fan theories. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Joy revealed that several fan-favorite characters will return for Westworld Season 2. Specifically, she confirmed that Elsie is alive and will return in the show’s highly-anticipated second season.

During a recent chat with EW, Lisa Joy confirmed that many characters will return in Season 2. This includes Elsie, Stubbs, William, Lee Sizemore, young Ford, Peter Abernathy, Clementine and Charlotte. Thanks to the 2 trailers that were released, we’ve known for a while that many of these characters would return. We are, however, thrilled that Elsie and Charlotte survived and will be a part of Season 2.

To be fair, Ford will only appear in flashbacks, but Elsie will be featured throughout Season 2. Not only did Joy confirm that several characters will return, but she also gave fans some insight about their purpose in Season 2. Sure, most all of them will be caught up in Ford’s narrative from hell, but that is what fans have been looking forward to.

Without further ado, let’s look at what Joy had to say about where certain characters will find themselves in Westworld Season 2. Starting, of course, with Elsie and Stubbs.

Elsie and Stubbs

At the end of Season 1, Stubbs was kidnapped by Ghost Nation. Elsie didn’t fare so well herself, and the last time we saw her, Bernard had choked her out. Thankfully, they are both alive, but thanks to Dolores’ revolution, things aren’t going so well. Joy said the following about Elsie and Stubbs in Season 2:

"“They’re finally getting to experience Westworld as guests and not in the managerial halls, but I’m not sure they’re enjoying their experience.”"

Charlotte Hale

Let’s face it, Charlotte Hale isn’t the most likable character. Sure, she’s supposed to be unlikable, but she’s a callous and hard to relate to. Joy said Charlotte will return; however, don’t expect her to be any different than she was in Season 1:

"“She is back and causes trouble. She went from this controlled person playing this chess game with Ford. He takes out her king and queen in one fell swoop. Now she’s left at the mercy of the hosts like everyone else.”"

Lee Sizemore

What can we say about Lee Sizemore? Well, he’s a weasel and his self-interests are probably the only thing keeping him alive. Oddly enough, the actor who plays Sizemore, Simon Quarterman, also spoke with EW. He touched on Sizemore’s position in Season 2 and why he’s “teamed up” with Maeve in the trailers:

"“He’s found himself in the most uncomfortable position he can possibly be in. These hosts have always been props to his stories, and now it’s like he’s become a player in one of his own stories.”"

We are thrilled that so many characters are coming back. If you are wondering about the other characters Joy mentioned, then have no fear! We are going to tackle each remaining character in the lead up to Season 2. For now, we can’t wait to see what happens in Westworld Season 2.

Next: Could the other hosts become sentient like Dolores, Bernard and Maeve?

We still have a few months until Westworld Season 2 drops. Until then, we will continue to speculate on anything and everything Westworld.

Westworld Season 2 will premiere on HBO Sunday, April 22, 2018 9PM/EST
