Season 8 filming: Blood and body parts at Winterfell
By Dan Selcke
After a few eventful months, filming at the Winterfell set at Moneyglass, Northern Ireland has come to an end. But before we leave it behind, Oakleaf Photography has a few more shots of the set in its final days, covered in SPOILERS.
Filming at the Winterfell set has been intense. We’ve seen bodies littering the nearby fields, hundreds of extras gathered in their masses, and at one point, the production lit the whole thing of fire. We don’t know exactly what’s going to happen at Winterfell in season 8, but it will be action-packed. Clearly, there will be some kind of battle.
Oakleaf’s new photos show more of the aftermath of that fight. Below, we can see blood left on the crenellations of the castle wall. (Click the picture to blow it up.)
Also notice the spiked cylinders hanging just below the top of the wall, which are assumedly there to deter climbers.
And in this next image, we zoom in on a pile of body part props, which is…grim.
And thus, we bid goodbye to the Winterfell set for possibly the last time. Fare thee well, old friend: you have served us well. Perhaps HBO will opt to maintain the set after shooting is over, like it’s doing to the enormous King’s Landing set it’s building in Belfast.
Speaking of other sets, word is that shooting will soon start up at the huge green screen set the crew has erected in Magheramorne Quarry.
Stay tuned.
