Doctor Who Watch Madness: Sweet 16 results, updated bracket

Then there were eight! Round 2 of the Doctor Who Watch Madness has concluded, but which eight competitors remain standing?
And just like that, we’re officially halfway through the first annual Doctor Who Watch Madness tournament! Following an intense first round, the competition continued to heat up in the Sweet 16 round of the competition which managed to separate the tournament’s true contenders.
The second round of our tournament was full of memorable moments including the elimination of the first No. 1 seed as Sarah Jane Smith managed to breeze past her competition. Meanwhile, our sole surviving No. 2 seed Amy Pond kept her hot streak going with yet another hard-fought victory.

Elsewhere in the round, the Dalek (No. 1) took down the Cybermen (No. 5) while the Weeping Angels (No. 3) fell to The Master (No.7); Rose Tyler (No. 1) managed to narrowly defeat River Song (No. 4) as Ace (No. 7) took down Tegan Jovanka (No. 3); finally, we watched as the Tenth Doctor (No. 1) brought down the Ninth Doctor (No. 3) and the Eleventh Doctor (No. 3) brought an end to the Fourth Doctor’s (No. 7) run.
Sweet 16 Odds and Ends
- After sweeping the Round of 32, only three No. 1 seeds remain following Susan Forman’s loss to Sarah Jane Smith.
- Keep a serious eye on Amy Pond who remains the only No. 2 seed in the tournament after breezing past Clara Oswald in the Sweet 16 match-up.
- Another contender to look out for? Sarah Jane Smith who managed to once again defeat her opponent by the largest margin by securing 94 percent of the vote in this round of competition.
- On the flip side, No. 1 seed Rose Tyler narrowly avoided defeat, defeating River Song by a mere four percent.

With two rounds in the books, we now move out attention over to the Quarterfinals of the Doctor Who Watch Madness tournament as the final divisional battles unfold. Which characters will emerge victorious and make their way to the Semifinals where they’ll battle it out for a place in the Championship match!

Elite 8 Voting
With the Elite 8 matches set, voting will begin today (March 27) to determine which villain, Doctor and companions will advance to the Final 4 where they’ll face off against one another for the first time in the tournament.
The action begins today as the Dalek faces off against The Master in a poll which will go live at 2 p.m. ET and conclude after six hours of voting. The fun will then continue when companions Sarah Jane Smith and Ace face off in a poll set to launch at 4 p.m. ET and run through 10 p.m. ET.
On Wednesday, March 28 the action continues when Rose Tyler goes up against Amy Pond in a poll running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET before concluding as the Tenth Doctor faces off against the Eleventh Doctor during the final poll of the Elite 8 which will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.n. ET
