Three blasts for White Walkers: Thick fog spews from the set at Magheramorne Quarry
By Dan Selcke
Of late, all kinds of interesting people and coming in and out of Magheramorne Quarry, where the Game of Thrones production is currently hard at work shooting masses of extras parading in front of a gigantic green screen. Now, the crew has added something new to the mix. Read on, but beware of SPOILERS.
It’s actually pretty simple: the Game of Thrones crew got hold of a fog machine, and boy are they using it. Check out all the fog billowing from the set in the picture below:
WTF indeed. But really, when you see rolling waves of fog on a Game of Thrones set, it can only mean one thing: White Walkers are coming. Whenever the White Walkers show up, they’re preceded by a frigid wall of mist. It happened at the end of season 2, when the army of the dead descended on the Fist of the First Men:
In happened in season 5, when the Night King paid a visit to Hardhome:
And we saw it at the top of season 7, as the army of the dead continued its march toward Eastwatch-by-the-Sea:
And now that fog has come to Magheramorne Quarry, and may God have mercy on everybody working there…or on their characters, at least.
And there quite a few people working there. We’ve seen an Unsullied army, a Dothraki army, and a Northern army, plus reports of leading cast members who remain a wee bit too far away to identify in detail, and of course, wights. Once the army of the dead marches south, it’ll be all hands on deck.
Above, you can get a glimpse of an army facing down the mist, and what comes with it. Either that or we’re looking at the army of the dead itself here. And although it’s not really possible to identify anyone for sure, am I am the only one who thinks the three figures standing sideways in the lower right-hand corner look like Jon Snow, Davos and Gendry? (Click to blow the picture up.)
Whoever they are, they might want to think about getting out of there.
And there’s more. GoTlike Locations, which has been on the case at Magheramorne Quarry for a while now, also snapped pictures of a fire source on set:
It’s hard to tell if these fires are part of the same scene happening in the first batch of photos. However, just in case you’re wondering, all the smoke and fog isn’t coming from the fires. It’s being made independently, as this video from Davy Orr shows:
Stay tuned for more wild nights at Magheramorne Quarry.
