Vote for Game of Thrones season 7 at the 2018 Webby Awards
By Dan Selcke
Between all the Golden Globes, Saturn Awards, and more Emmys than it could ever know what to do with, Game of Thrones has already conquered the traditional television awards circuit. But what about the internet? The Webby Awards, the annual award show that honors the best the net has to offer, has been going on since 1996, and Game of Thrones season 7 is up for a couple of trophies. What’s more, you can help it win!
The Webbys are different from most award shows. For one thing, there are an ungodly number of awards to give out, spread across categories like “Websites,” “Film & Video,” “Social,” and more. And while there is a category for “Best Series,” you’d never see something like Game of Thrones as a nominee. This is all about things made for the internet, so the nominees are more along the lines of “Ten Years of Funny or Die” and “Timberland Legends Club featuring Nas.”
For another thing, two awards are chosen in each category: one by the members of The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and one by you, the average internet surfer. Game of Thrones season 7 is up for two awards this year, so far as we can tell:
You can vote by clicking the links, although you have to create a profile. Game of Thrones has won the Best Overall Social Presence Award for the last two years running, so let’s keep that streak going. It does, after all, create a lot of buzz.
Voting is open until April 19. The winners will be selected on April 28. Winners’ speeches can’t be longer than five words, because they we do things differently on the net.
