What were the most interesting news stories from the wonderful world of Game of Thrones, and beyond? Author George R.R. Martin talked Lady Stoneheart and The Winds of Winter, filming wrapped on an insanely long 55-night shoot for season 8, a new red structure showed up at the King’s Landing set in Belfast, and Joe Dempsie talked Gendry in the show’s final season. There’s a lot more to discuss, so let’s get started.

George R.R. Martin spoke with the Chinese version of Esquire Magazine and said Lady Stoneheart will be important to his next book, The Winds of Winter.

From that same interview, Martin also said he wished Game of Thrones had included Lady Stoneheart.

Filming for season 8 finished a 55-night shoot that stretched from the Winterfell set at Moneyglass, to the Magheramorne Quarry set. It was a big deal.

Elsewhere, the King’s Landing set at Titanic Studios got even larger as a red building appeared.

Actor Joe Dempsie (Gendry) talked about his character’s role in season 8 and did a bit of hype-work, as well.

Kristian Nairn (Hodor) did some hyping of his own for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones. Although, we’re not sure if he actually knows how it will all play out, or if he’s just generating some positive buzz. Either way, Hodor!

A video from filming at Magheramorne Quarry revealed some exciting and spoilerific things.

Filming for season 8 set up at the ruins in Italica — where the Dragonpit is filmed — and it looks like that particular shoot will be lengthier than originally thought.

There’s a new Lord of the Rings prequel novel from J.R.R. Tolkien coming our way in August. We’re very excited.

AMC’s The Terror is pretty darn good. Check out our review of its fourth episode.

Finally, Westworld season 2 premieres next week. Here’s why Game of Thrones fans will love it.
