Impressionist Jake Dudman shares behind the scenes at Big Finish video

With The Tenth Doctor Chronicles due to be released soon, impressionist Jake Dudman has recently uploaded a video that gives us a glimpse behind the scenes at Big Finish!

Last year, it was announced that online impressionist Jake Dudman would narrate The Tenth and The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles for Big Finish.

This was quite an interesting casting announcement. For The Ninth Doctor Chronicles last year, Nicholas Briggs narrated the stories. It was initially assumed that he would narrate the following volumes, too.

So when it was announced that Jake Dudman would narrate the following volumes instead, it was a surprise. But it was also a very welcome one, too. Anyone who’s watched his channel on YouTube not only knows how much of a clear fan he is, but also just how talented he is, too.

(For the best example of this, watch The Great Curator that he worked on with fellow impressionist Jon Culshaw. It’s amazing in so many ways, especially if you’re a fan of impressionists as well as Doctor Who.)

Earlier this month, Jake Dudman uploaded a video on his channel that goes behind the scenes at Big Finish. It’s certainly worth watching, for several reasons.

Behind the scenes

For one thing, it’s really fascinating seeing exactly how a Big Finish story gets made. Particularly from a new actor’s and a fan’s perspective.

We usually hear more about the making of Big Finish through interviews on some of their releases. But it’s great to see a visual glimpse of it, and what kind of environment it has.

It’s also fantastic seeing Jake Dudman’s reaction to all of this. He’s clearly as much of a fan as we are. So seeing his enthusiasm and excitement at using his talent in a big way, especially for a series he loves, is fantastic to see.

Doctor Who will always be a series that encourages fans to be creative and develop their talent. Initially in small ways, but eventually, in larger ways, too. Big Finish itself was created by a group of very enthusiastic fans who enjoyed making audio stories. So it’s great to see them using new talent who are also fans, too. It’s exciting to see how The Tenth Doctor Chronicles will be.
