Game of Thrones is already chock-full of characters, but there’s always room for a few more. Fansite Watchers on the Wall has details on eight new faces we’ll be seeing come season 8. None of these roles are as important as, for example, book character Harry Strickland, who will be played by actor Marc Rissman, but they’re tasty food for thought. Let’s take a look!
First up, there’s a group of five characters who will feature in a scene where they’re “haggling over land.” Interestingly, HBO is looking for actors with improvisational skills, which isn’t the first time we’ve heard that this year. Game of Thrones has always been very exacting when it comes to following the script — when every shot costs this much money, there’s usually not much room to play around — but apparently the producers are loosening up a bit in the final season.
Anyway, the note about improvisation makes us think that this will be a lighter scene, and that it’ll take place after the Night King has been dealt with. With him on the march, it’ll probably be difficult for anyone to think of anything else.
Next, HBO wants a male soldier, aged 30-40. Specifically, it wants a “physically intense performance from a strapping squaddie type.” He’ll need to have combat skills, so look out for him to appear in an action scene. This character will rehearse starting on April 30, with a shoot in Belfast around May 23.
Third: a village girl, aged 18-25, who will be attacked in an “intense” scene requiring her to be naked above the waist. This actor will rehearse and film on same dates as whoever plays the male soldier. Does the soldier attack the girl, or do they just share the same scene?
Finally, produces want a 30-40-year-old to play a “clean-shaven grieving man” for an emotional scene, although HBO doesn’t want anybody to go over the top with it. He’ll shoot in Belfast on the week starting June 18. HBO was clear they do not want someone who will “go over the top.”
These scenes could involve just about anyone. What do you guys think?
