The newest addition to Westworld has fans anticipating what Shogun World holds in store for season two

The first season of Westworld ended with the cliffhanger that there are additional parks that are a part of this world. This had all of us in an absolute frenzy, because, more parks? WHAT? And if you’ve seen the original movie, then you may have known about other parks, but regardless fans have been waiting for over a year to see exactly what this new park will entail.

Season two trailers and stills have given us a glimpse into the world, inclusive of geishas, katanas, and samurais. But let’s dive into everything we actually know about Shogun World ahead of Sunday’s season two premiere.

The season one finale was our first glimpse at Shogun World

If you recall, the initials “SW” were seen in several scenes throughout the season one finale. Once inside the Delos headquarters, we got our first look at samurais and katanas and presumed “SW” stood for Samurai World. Back in March, EW confirmed that the official title was actually Shogun World.

Shogun World is the second park within Westworld

For those who have taken a gander at Delos’ website, then you have probably seen the description for Shogun World, and what guests can expect upon their visit there.

"“For those for whom Westworld is not enough, the true connoisseur of gore can indulge their fantasies with the slash of a katana. Modeled after Japan’s Edo period, Shogun World offers a chance for guests to embrace their inner warrior, in a landscape of highest beauty and darkest horror. Let your true self take shape in the land where self-discovery is an art form.”"

A world where you channel your inner warrior? And play with katanas? That sounds pretty badass to us! Where can we sign up?

Showrunner Jonathan Nolan spoke to EW about Shogun World and the painstaking process that went into every detail of this incredible world. And based on what he said, we are certainly in a for a visual treat!

Shogun World will be the focus of season two’s episode five

Say what! Episode five?! But wait, before we freak out, it might just be worth the wait. According to showrunner Nolan, there will be one episode this season entirely in Japanese! Yes, you read that right! And based on the episode titles that were released recently, episode five is titled “Akane No Mai” and its description: “ショーグン・ワールドへようこそ (Welcome to Shogun World). So it is safe to assume this will be the grand premiere of Shogun World.

How cool does that sound? Geisha hosts! The more we say it, the cooler it sounds. Well, we don’t know a whole lot about these characters but tidbits of information have been released prior to the season two premiere. Rinko Kikuchi, an Oscar-winning actress, will be playing a host by the name of Akane. Actor Hiroyuki Sanada will play a host named Musashi, that is based off a character in Samurai Trilogy.

Luckily, the wait is nearly over and we have just two days left before the epic return of Westworld! So get ready folks, it’s about to be one hell of a ride!

Westworld season two premieres Sunday, April 22nd on HBO at 9 P.M. EST!
